Whilst out doing a bird count at the Kingfisher Bridge Nature Reserve this morning:
I also noticed this:
I had wondered why one part of the woodland walk around the north part of the reserve always appears to be a woodpecker alley in summer: now I think I have found out why.
And the best birds of the morning? A pair of stonechat and a flock of greenfinches. Yesterday, it was a tree creeper. But I am aware of my fortune in treating the usual fare of the reserve, from marsh harrier onwards, as normal.
